With the publishing of his book “Choosing a Vocation” in 1909, Frank Parsons provided both a vision and a framework for what was to become the modern field of career counseling and development. In 1913, the National Vocational Guidance Association (NVGA) was founded and continues today as the National Career Development Association (NCDA).

In Connecticut, a group of vocational guidance counselors came together as an informal organization and in 1929 it became the Connecticut Vocational Guidance Association (CVGA) – an official state branch of NVGA. It is in this organization that we find the roots of the Connecticut Career Counseling and Development Association (CCCDA). Today, CCCDA is incorporated in Connecticut as a non-profit organization and is a chartered State Division of NCDA.

CCCDA provides a vibrant community for career counselors and practitioners and offers opportunities for professional development, networking, and contributing to the field.
